Sony has confirmed PlayStation Network maintenance for Tuesday, May 31, sparking speculation that PS3 owners could finally see the return of the PlayStation Store.
The firm said earlier this week that it's aiming to have the PlayStation Store back online by the end of the month, and May 31 is just about as "end of the month" as you can get. Fingers crossed.
The company said today on the PlayStation forums that PSN maintenancee work will be carried out between 19.00 GMT on Tuesday and 01.00 GMT on Wednesday, June 1.
If you attempt to log in during that period you'll receive the site maintenance notification page, but if you're already signed in you should be able to stay connected and won't lose your gaming session. Fingers crossed the PlayStation Store will be reactivated following the tech work.
During the maintenance window, the following services will be unavailable:
PC Registration
Console Storefront
PS3 Account Management
PS3 Network Account Registration
PSP Network Account Registration
Qriocity Account Management
Earlier this month, a report claimed Sony had told developers to expect the PlayStation Store to return on May 24. Obviously that didn't turn out to be the case.
