Worth a watch for sure. But this is very much a drama and not an action flick. There are some strong moments in it.
Went to see this a week or so ago. Seriously, I was blown away.....for me this is one of the movies of the year. Can't wait for the like of Transformers 2, but really can't see them topping this!

    • Saw I am Legend starring Will Smith last night.
Hmmmmm, what can I say, nothing.

I'll just yawn for 90 minutes and say that was the storyline, plot, main feature and ending.

Don't get me wrong I am not a Will Smith hater, I do like some of his stuff and I think he is a good actor, but this film just sucked.

      • I was bit disappointed with it as well Sky, it definately lacked substance.

A film that doesn't however is Watchmen ;D Saw it at the IMAX in London over the weekend and was blown away, by both the size of the screen and the film itself! I had no prior knowledge about the story going into it which I guess left some excess details a bit hazy but that didn't seem to matter as it was all concluded quite well considering the amount of story threads they had going on. The intro part was really well done and a lot more informative than I first thought.

So in conclusion, go and see it

        • I watched Righteous Kill tonite and I was left thinking wot happned to the story??!!. I guessed before the film was half hour old who the killer was!! Al Pacino n Robert De Niro are two of my fave actors of all time but this was a bit of a let down!. No HEAT classic here I have to say!!. I feel I could have wrote a better story and put a quality twist at the end!. :-\ :-\ :'(

          • Watched two films over the last week..

            Changeling:
Not normally a film I would rent but I was bullied into it by others who have no love for sci fi... and boy am I glad they did.. this is a great film and Miss Jolie is very good as the mother of the missing child.. a well done film with great acting and great directing by Clint.. definatly worth the rental price

            Live:
A great film showcasing what could happen when television producers decide the only way to get in ratings is by publicly showcasing death on TV, Eva mendes is great as the single minded producer and the mockumentry way the film is shot gives that sense of realism to the whole thing... it's not going to set the world on fire but it's a great warning I think to us all as to where the whole reality show thing could go

            • 'The Children' - the tagline for this film is "you brought them into the world. They will take you out.
It is as the title says one big fat cliche from beginning to end.. the country house, the woods all around and the ending that threatens us with a sequel.. :knuppel2:

I thought the idea for the film was great, however the acting was hammy and overdramatic. the parents in particular showed no sign that they saw anything wrong with their own kiddies :uglystupid2:... and it just went from bad to worse when in the space of 3-4 minutes everyone became convinced that the teenager was trying to kill everone ???

My beloved liked the film and I thought it was cacapoo, which just cements the fact that any review is worth almost nothing, however if you see it on the renatal shelf my advice would be to make sure you have nothing else there to consider...
British horror is so much better than this, definatly a straight to channel 5 relase for me

              • Watched Shoot em up this afternoon, the bulletfest with Clive Owen. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and laughed my @rse off at several points, particularly the spelling out lovely messages with neon signs, the inventive way around thumbprint identification, and a little 'in joke' of Clive only being seen driving (and smashing up) BMWs which for those that don't get the joke, he did a series of promotional films for BMW where he was the star as a driver/chauffeur.

Each of the films were made by top name directors such as Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, etc. Each shot in their own style. I particularly like the Guy Ritchie one, which also starred Madonna as a stuck up superstar who got her comeupance courtesy of Clive's driving. Anyone that hasn't seen them, or fancies seeing them again, just google "bmw films". I have them all on disc

I didnt think the ending included on the disc was as good as the alternate ending here it is if you've not seen it http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/03/...is-is-amazing/ It just makes more sense to me.

Afilm I highly advise you all to see is eden lake, its very very dark and quite hard to watch in places. The violence in this film is brutal.

                    • Me and my other half went to see Monsters vs Aliens the other week, which was a fantastic little gem of a movie. Admittedly, I am a big fan of these 3D animated movies (Pixar and Dreamwirks mainly).

That film is just disturbingly wrong in so many ways, thinking about the ending still horrifies me, kinda the point I guess..... I agree with you though Marty that it's definatly a film that should be watched even if it is exploitive

                        • Definitly not one for people who are easily offended or shaken because it does have some very very dark and disturbing parts in it.

I just downloaded the demo for monsters vs aliens and playing that has now made me want to take my son to see the film, Im a big fan of seth rogan anyway and seeing as he does bobs voice (I think) its a must watch for me.

I just rented The day the earth stood still and the new max payne film, been looking forward to both of these for a while so Il be watching them over the next 2 days :crazydance:

                          • I watched the new Fast and Furious film over the weekend. Good high octane fun and good to see Vin back where he belongs (behind the wheel of some american muscle). To be honest, I don't think it stands up as well as the first two, and I haven't seen Tokyo Drift yet cos it just didn't seem the same with Vin not in them. Enjoyable, and you can't beat that kind of soundtrack through a cinema's sound system, but I'd probably say wait for the DVD rather than the expense of a night at the cinema

                            • vin diesel is in tokyo drift bud, only for about 6 seconds but thats more than 2 fast 2 furious :

It is a very poor film I think though, I really dislike the main charater though so that ruins the entire film for me however I do like a character called han, he seems swarve and like a well thought out character.

Just a shame they missed the mark for the main bloke.

                              • aye knowing he was no longer a main character put me off it. I gave 2 fast the benefit of the doubt, and did enjoy it but it just wasn't the same. I'll tell you one of my favourite bits of the new one - brian :"now you owe me a 10 second car".......... smash ............ dom : "now we're even" lol
